The Leaves Coordinator is responsible for administering a variety of Leaves of Absence to support the Risk Management department. This position requires a working knowledge of time-off programs (pay continuance, FMLA, etc.).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Process daily FMLA & Leave Administration requests according to process
Respond to employee inquiries (email, phone and in person) related to time-off benefits and eligibility
Provides required time-off documentation to employees and manages leave files for the duration of the leave through the return to work process.
Ensures compliance and proper documentation with respect to legal, regulatory, and corporate policy, including HIPAA, FMLA, Pay Continuance, etc.
Coordinates the referral and scheduling of employees for return to work exams, drug screens, and additional examinations as required.
Corresponds with physicians, hospitals, and employees regarding provided medical documentation.
Ensures that all necessary procedures are completed prior to employee’s release to return to work.
Enter, calculate and process various reports and invoices. Coordinate daily flow of information regarding changes in employees’ leave status, names, addresses, and payroll data.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree Required
Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field is preferred.
Years of Experience
1-3 years of experience required. Previous experience in Leave of Absence administration preferred.
Strong Knowledge of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), HIPAA, and other federal regulations is preferred.
May be required to travel to outlying facilities and aboard vessels.
Ability to multi-task and excellent written and verbal communication skills
Possession of organizational skills and results oriented
Must be dependable in attendance and meet deadlines as established
Critical thinking process oriented
Ability to determine priorities
