Job Description

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious well-balanced meals to the crew and any guests. Cooks are responsible for maintaining the galley, dining room and associated equipment in a clean and sanitary condition at all times. Cooks report to the Captain of the vessel. Depending on your vessel you will work one of the following schedules: 28 days on/28 days off, or 21 days on/21 days off, or 14 days on/14 days off.

Essential Job Duties
Prepare three well-balanced meals on a daily basis for crew members and guests. Meals should be nutritious, well-balanced, good tasting, and satisfying.

Work in a safe and efficient manner, following all Ingram safety policies and principles.

Ensure there are adequate stores and galley supplies onboard by practicing good inventory and order procedures; therefore providing adequate food for both meals and snacks.

Assist crew members with special dietary needs by modifying and/or substituting menu items.

Maintain galley by regularly cleaning the dining room, oven, cabinets, pantry, refrigerator, freezers, and other galley utensils in compliance with standard sanitary procedures.

Prepare meals and store foods in compliance with sanitary food handling practices.

Prepare food supply orders for the Captain's approval.

Ensure all perishable food supplies are stowed upon delivery.

Supports and complies with Ingram safety systems, company policies and procedures, and the company's code of ethics.

Able to work independently or collaboratively in a group environment

Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance.

Promote a positive and professional atmosphere in the galley.

Actively supports and implements sustainable initiatives in the galley.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by the Captain.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must:

Have a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Have a valid Driver's License.

Have previous culinary and dietary work experience.

Be able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).

Be able to lift and carry items up to 25 lbs.

Be able to climb ladders, board and ride in skiffs in order to reach assigned vessel.

Have sufficient reasoning and mathematical ability required to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and/or diagrammatic form.

Have proficient computer skills to include e-mail, INTERNET browsers, vendor ordering or procurement programs, and other PC software.

Must possess or be willing to obtain ServSafe certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Culinary and/or dietary training and education is desirable.
