Name: Murray Art Guild's Empty Bowls Event
Date: October 23, 2015
Time: 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
Since mid March, community members and Murray Art Guild volunteers have been busy creating bowls; bowls that will be used for the Friday Oct. 23rd Empty Bowls Dinner.
Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger and was created by The Imagine Render Group. The basic idea is simple: potters and other crafts people, work with the community to create handcrafted bowls. Guests are invited to a simple meal of soup and bread. In exchange for a cash donation, guests are asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. The money raised is donated to an organization working to end hunger and food insecurity.

The community is invited to join the Guild for the local event Friday Oct. 23, 5-7pm at the Guild’s 500 N 4th Street location. All proceeds from the event will benefit Murray Calloway County Need Line. Guild Director Debi Henry Danielson stated, “More community members than ever before have come in to make bowls. The interest and support for the program is just inspiring.”
