Time: 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM CDT
Event Description:
Spend some quality time with your four-legged best friend at the Humane Society of Calloway County’s annual Easter Bone Hunt Sat., April 15 at 2 p.m. at the Murray-Calloway County Central Park Courthouse Pavilion. This event is the canine equivalent of an Easter egg hunt as the dogs sniff out treats and prizes At 2:30 p.m. there will be an Easter bonnet parade for your dog to show off his or her best spring head wear. At 3:00 p.m. egg hunts will be held in separate areas for large and small dogs allowing the canines to ‘hunt’ doggie bones and plastic eggs with doggie bones, cookies and other special treats and prizes. For a $5 donation per dog, dogs will receive the treats they find. If the dog touches their nose to a treat or egg during the hunt, their person can pick it up and put it in their basket. The dog’s handler will receive an entry into a drawing for an Easter basket. From 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., the Easter Bunny will be on hand for photographs. For a $10 donation to the Humane Society, the photographer will take a 5X7 photograph of your dog(s) and family with the Easter Bunny. Your pooch will enjoy paw painting a work of art at $10 or less per item. Humane Society volunteers will microchip pets for $10 and custom pet ID tags can be engraved while you wait beginning at $4. There will be collars, leashes and harnesses available for sale. Bring your dog if he or she enjoys being around people and other dogs and is up-to-date on vaccinations. Your dog must be on a leash no longer than six-feet in length. If the weather on April 15 is very rainy or stormy, the event will be cancelled for 2017 and rescheduled for 2018.
